Creative Hub Development in the Midtown Arts District
daniel johnson, lead writer/organizer in partnership with Mary Elizabeth Evans of Midtown Partners

In the Spring of 2012, i worked in partnership with the Arts Center of Mississippi and Mary Elizabeth Evans of Midtown Partners to host a series of community meetings which included residents, artists, non-profit, governmental, and educational entities. Through these meetings, we were able to harness pre-existing efforts with fresh proposals to present an integrated strategy to bolster the developing creative economy in Midtown Jackson, MS.

Our grant request tied together collaborative community public art projects, entrepeneurship training, wages for a new creative economy coordinator position at the neighborhood non-profit, media campaigns for the arts district, and bi-annual arts district festivals.

Partners included the Arts Center of Mississippi, Hinds Economic Development Authority, Millsaps ELSE School of Management, Midtown Partners, FIGMENT, Light + Glass Studio, A+ Signs and Graphics, and me, daniel johnson.
