The Art of Governance is a work of art.

 

This work brought together a paid team of six young people in Jackson, MS from different City Council wards.

 

As a team they set their own budgets, researched local issues, and imagined paths forward for Jackson. Along the way, they met with their City Council counterparts and facilitated peer discussions in front of the Mayor to reflect their thoughts and receive feedback.

 

After narrowing their focus to a single challenge where they felt they could have the most impact, perhaps because of their age, artist daniel johnson facilitated them in creating a civic work of art to raise awareness and inspire action. The challenge they selected - the generation gap.

 

The Art of Governance culminated in May 2016 with the team hosting an intergenerational dinner at a local restaurant as a work of art.
